Provider price setting
Valuing Care’s work with commissioners to identify the usual cost of care within a locality often sees us invite care home providers to participate in cost reviews.
The cost review process ensures care home providers are given the opportunity to demonstrate the actual cost of providing services, with assurance that the information provided is treated in strict confidence and final reports are completely anonymised.
Care home providers complete a cost template which requires a statement of occupancy and expenditure over the last full accounting year, and a summary of the cost of employing direct care staff. Valuing Care uses the results of the cost survey to benchmark the cost of services against our national database of cost averages in order to provide service commissioners with the confidence and necessary evidence base to set fair and sustainable rates for care home services.
